Here’s the last of the four paddle boats. Again the texts are related to the theme of Man’s Best Friend.

All boats were painted with exterior latex paint and coated with a polyurethane finish. Check back after Oct. 18th to see the boats in the water.

You are running into danger

Boat 3 of 4. Again no lettering, just a take on the International Maritime signal flag meaning (among other things) “you are running into danger.”

Another great project inspired in nautical flags (and that inspired me too) was El Tono & Momo’s PLAF, done last year in NYC. Check it out.

I Require a Tug

Among other things this one means “I require a tug.”

There is an “I” in Win

Was in Jefferson City, Missouri for the 2009 Art Inside the Park which will open on October 16th. Here’s a video from the 2008 event. Sadly you can see around the 7:00 minute mark how serious ignorance and closed-mindedness by some locals led to all of the murals that were created last year being blasted off the wall. Unbelievable.

Incorporating familiar objects into artwork can sometimes get people to open their minds and take a closer look before deciding to dismiss something or accept it. Also the idea for this year’s show was to create pieces that floated so what better way to combine both of those than use one of the most non-threatening canvases imaginable, paddle boats. For the first one (of four) here’s an egotistical take on the theme of “Man’s Best Friend”.
